Position Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining high-quality web applications. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and performant web applications using modern web technologies such as React, NodeJS, and Remix. You will work closely with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure that our web applications meet the needs of our users.  You will bring the creative vision and strategy for sleepnumber.com to life by creating an exceptional user experience with the Sleep Number Global Digital Brand. This role will support specialization on the frontend supporting each project and initiative. Technology is at the forefront of how we best support our customers of today, and tomorrow. This is a remote optional position.

The Stack

Frontend: React, Emotion, Remix, Immer, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress

Others: Git, GraphQL, NodeJS, Typescript, Kafka, AWS (Cognito, SNS, SQS, Lambda, S3)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, and maintenance

  • Partner closely with design and product to craft great digital product experiences

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain a high standard of code quality

  • Identifying and troubleshooting technical issues and proposing and implementing solutions

  • Enhance the e-commerce platform to enable new capabilities and efficiencies to our business users and development teams

  • Promote excellence in stability, deployment confidence, and security across the e-commerce platform codebase

  • Leverage best-in-class standards and technology to maximize the performance of platforms and applications

  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

  • Staying up to date with emerging web development technologies and best practices

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in software engineering and web development with an advanced knowledge of Javascript

  • 3+ years of professional experience with React

  • Solid knowledge of NodeJS, GraphQL

  • Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and Event Driven Design

  • Solid knowledge of server-side rendered or static site generators

  • Knowledge of Agile principles and SCRUM methodologies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent team building and collaboration skills

  • Growth mindset and demonstrated emotional intelligence to mentor and collaborate with development team members

  • Self-starter with can do attitude that is not afraid to provide dissenting ideas
