Senior Marketing Data Analyst


Position Purpose

The Senior Marketing Data Analyst delivers actionable insights that help the CRM Marketing team drive effective and efficient decision making. This position will formulate and execute recommendations for new strategies, as well as conducting extensive analyses on CRM metrics transforming existing and new data sources into meaningful and actionable insights and recommendations to enhance conversion, customer value, engagement, retention, and loyalty.

The Senior Marketing Data Analyst will utilize analytics, SAS/SQL, and investigative skills along with work experience to advance CRM Marketing loyalty programs and produce analytic findings to share out into insights that influence marketing strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage analytics, execution, and performance results of comprehensive CRM Marketing loyalty programs by producing high performing segments.
  • Proactively identify new and profitable areas of opportunity for targeting, segmentation, and CRM Marketing loyalty programs.
  • Develop and share informative, actionable, and concise performance results of CRM Marketing loyalty programs including engagement, ROI, incrementality, and recommendations.
  • Develop CRM Marketing analytic testing plans, generate hypotheses, and assess performance.
  • Develop definitions and baselines and own the provision and accuracy of these metrics.
  • Proactively monitor KPIs and trends and provide appropriate awareness and solutions to help ensure business goals are met.
  • Develop and operationalize recurring reports in support of the CRM Marketing loyalty programs.
  • Make insightful, sharable, and easily digested recommendations based on analytics and findings.
  • Support analytics operations team to maintain quality data and systems by defining process improvements, data mining, and alerting team of opportunities.
  • Work extensively with CRM managers to inform and provide guidance relating to loyalty program strategy.
  • Manage, prioritize, fulfill, and document ad hoc analysis.

  • Meet CRM Marketing goals; engagement, conversion, and sales.
  • Meet deadlines sharing results (program specific, monthly, quarterly, yearly) while consistently providing accurate data.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and business acumen .
  • Quality of exploratory analysis and grasp the complexity of our data, products, and processes.
  • Make valuable database recommendations and implement solutions.
  • Value of shared recommendations.
  • Create and share beneficial advanced analysis and recommendations.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally in a quantitative field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in advanced data analysis, summarization, and sharing recommendations.
  • 5+ years of SAS or SQL programming experience with advanced programming and coding skills needed to data-mine and develop and automate reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, a plus.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau, a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced working knowledge of analytical, CRM Marketing program principles including sample size, statistical significance, design of experiments, segmentation, and key performance metrics.
  • Proven analytical skills in data mining, advanced SAS programming, data manipulation, data summarization, and presentation/reporting development and visualization.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to extract, combine, organize, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Proficiency in experiment design, A/B testing, segmentation, regression, and basic statistics.
  • Ability to draw conclusions/insights and clearly communicate implications and recommendations for CRM team and Marketing leadership action.
  • Experience implementing and utilizing predictive models, a plus.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, particularly in ambiguous or complex situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to details and time management with ability to quality control while meeting deadlines.
  • Analytical software skills: SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS 9.4.
  • Experience in digital analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, a plus.
  • Prior retail loyalty analytics, a plus.
  • Understanding of retail operations, a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, a plus.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau, a plus.
