Position Purpose

The Sr. Manager, Privacy is responsible for working cross-functionally to manage the company's compliance with data privacy laws and regulations across the business’s vertically integrated operations.  Responsibilities include providing practical, timely advice on data privacy laws and regulations, document retention, and data management in a technology, innovation, and data-driven company. This position will also be responsible for some other regulatory and operational compliance needs as appropriate and necessary.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the management of the company's compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Research and interpret privacy laws, rules and regulations and advise Sleep Number business partners regarding the impact on Sleep Number’s business and methods of compliance.
  • Lead in the development of rules, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain document retention processes and policies and work collaboratively with business partners to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and implement training programs for compliance with data privacy laws and policies, document retention requirements, as well as other areas.
  • Proactively assess digital marketing programs through cross-functional collaboration on an ongoing basis to provide practical guidance regarding privacy compliance and best practices related to digital advertising, e-commerce, and lead capture.
  • Assist in providing ongoing analysis and advice regarding the collection, use, and retention of sleep health and biosignal data to provide sleep technology services and conduct sleep science research in a manner compliant with applicable privacy and data use laws and regulations.
  • Work with internal counsel to advise and/or mitigate potential compliance issues related to data privacy and security, including laws related to data collection, storage, transfer and data breach incidents.

Position Requirements

  • 8+ years of privacy experience with a bachelors degree, OR, 6+ years of privacy experience with a JD
  • Knowledge of and experience supporting business understanding and compliance with privacy laws in the US; knowledge and experience outside the US preferred but not required
  • Experience in the e-commerce and digital advertising industries
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience in, program and project management
  • Demonstrated cross-functional team execution skills
  • Experience assessing and defining system specifications preferably in relation to compliance with data protection and privacy regulations
