Senior Analyst-Inventory Analytics

Job Location Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Sr. Inventory Analyst is responsible for analyzing inventory productivity for all materials and working with teams in the Plants, Warehouses, and Corporate Headquarters to suggest and implement inventory improvement and reduction efforts.  The Sr. Analyst will create and maintain reporting of inventory for all materials within Supply Chain as well as action plans to manage financial risk of aged, obsolescence and refurbished parts. Inventory Analytics is vital to the efficient and cost-effective operations of Sleep Number’s fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop organizational inventory goals, including operational turns, and work cross functionally to forecast future inventory levels against targets.
  • Compile month-end inventory analysis and assist the Operations Finance team with activities related to inventory reserves and transactions inclusive of returns, obsolescence, and scrap recovery.
  • Develop trend analysis and risks with projections that drive action
  • Lead cross-functional teams to change based on analysis
  • Maintain and further develop total company weekly inventory reporting including Sr. Leadership decks related to inventory levels, financial, and operational turns.
  • Proactively measure, analyze, and communicate inventory levels that include goals, forecasts, and actuals in support of corporate objectives.
  • Develop inventory health scorecards and actions to improve
  • Analyze and summarize inventory changes with evolving network
  • Analyze inventory in the Plant, ADC, and Hub networks to identify slow moving or unproductive inventory.
  • Direct partners to execute action plans designed to manage financial risk.
  • Lead the organization in reducing total company inventory while maintaining high service level targets.
  • Lead cross functionally to improve efficiency and effectiveness of inventory utilization, inventory accuracy, recommend and execute SKU reduction based upon sales, inventory and cost analysis.
  • Lead cross-functionally in the management of Parts & Warranty SKU reduction efforts
  • Lead and assist the team execute on ramp-down/ramp-up product transitions (Product Lifecycle Management)
  • Lead total cost analysis on projects assigned
  • Ensure SKU status codes are maintained and accurate in order to report on inventory health
  • Support Inventory Control teams in analyzing inventory accuracy, root cause, and improvement efforts as necessary.
  • Provide Annual Physical Inventory support across all plants/ADCs as needed.
  • Seek out opportunities for continuous improvement in all areas related to Inventory management

Position Requirements 

Experience, Education & Certifications:

  • 5-7 years experience in reporting, data analysis, and supply chain management
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • CPIM, APICS or other would be desirable
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing environment, inventory and operations
  • ERP experience preferred; Oracle preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; (Mainly Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
