Media Specialist

Job Location Minneapolis, Minnesota


The Local Media Specialist is responsible for ensuring national and local media buys are executed flawlessly with a detailed focus on media buy execution, creative processes, and the day to day planning and execution of the Audio Influencer / Radio Endorsement program for Sleep Number. 


  • Work with Media Manager & Media Director to understand the goals and objectives of each media type, including all Television, Radio, Print, and OOH.
  • Lead the creative process for the Offline media channels
  • Maintain the media creative process for each medium as necessary
  • Partner with internal Creative Services team to kick off creative for each promotional period
  • Ensure proper creative is assigned and tracked for each media vehicle
  • Verifying that all store tags are accurate and pronounced correctly
  • Build master creative calendar and manage the creative process for each media guaranteeing the correct creative is produced and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Manage the day to day execution for Audio Influencer Media
  • Coordinate with media agency to identify and implement endorsement campaigns across Local Audio, National Network, Podcasts and Satellite to advance the Sleep Number brand and drive store traffic
  • Partner with Media Directors/Managers to set short- and long-term strategy
  • Drive performance reporting using internal and external tools
  • Assess performance and recommend appropriate schedule changes. On-Board new endorsement partners.
  • Maintain budgets in budget reporting tools
  • Communicate program options and changes with the broader Sleep Number organization, including Sleep Number store & market management
  • Integrate with internal Digital Media team for Social and Digital media extensions to Audio programs
  • Represent Media as part of the cross-functional team supporting Grand Openings. Provide input and options for media support for new stores.
  • Maintain professional rapport with internal partners and respond to their needs promptly and efficiently.
  • Keep aware of media trends that may affect Sleep Number’s performance or provide opportunity within media buys.


  • 4-year degree in Marketing or related field required.
  • 3+ years of related experience required
  • Radio / Audio experience in a corporate or station environment
  • Creative process experience – coordination of media creative, trafficking or production

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Computer literate: Experience with MS Office programs with advanced working knowledge of Excel. Comfort and experience with proprietary / custom software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Experience with accounting terminology and practices a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple projects.
