Media Planner


Position Purpose: 

The Media Planner executes the marketing channel plans and builds expertise at a specific channel level. They are responsible for in-platform execution and managing partner relationships at an operational level. They provide reporting and analytics to support the planning process and proactively identify next steps in the planning cycle. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Channel mastery: builds expertise and strategy in Social Media and understands how their channel contributes to the holistic strategic vision for media

  • Planning tasks
    • Delivers reporting, analytics and insights for Social Media community management and listening to support quarterly planning
    • Writes and executes briefs, works closely with Customer Care team, Social Media team, Creative team and Sr. Planner
    • Responsible for evaluating and sizing the opportunity within channel and making specific tactical recommendations that consider the plan in its entirety
    • Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify and buy against desired target audiences within the specific media channel, including lifestyles and psychographics
    • Recommends and collaborates on creative best practices and execution
  • In-platform
    • Effectively execute tasks in Sprinklr (or community management tool), Curalate, Workfront and Kenshoo
    • Participate and enforce key business enhancements in relation to community management and social listening, driving engagement with Sleep Number’s target audience(s) and customers
  • Reporting, analytics, insights
    • Provide accurate data reports and proactively identifies/pursues next steps and adjustments
  • Optimizations
    • Identifies and executes opportunities for daily and weekly optimizations
    • Drives test/learn execution


  • Accountability to consistently/accurately execute and support team
  • Supports Sr. Planner by executing tasks with agencies/partners
  • Provides mentorship to Associate Planners (as applicable)

  • Positively contributes to culture by supporting and engaging with team
  • Engages internal and external cross-channel partners for ongoing training and development
  • Growth/learning: Participates in industry/marketing community, proactively building experience and network; contributes to training and other forums for sharing/teaching

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Fluent in English. Fluent in Spanish is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Problem solving skills: ability to identify challenges, evaluate potential solutions for risk/pitfalls, and independently follow-through on implementing process/actions to resolve
  • Creative writing skills: ability to drive brand voice in a conversational manner
  • Working knowledge of marketing and/or media
  • Self-organizes, prioritizes work, meets deadlines and works independently
  • Maintains flexible and handle multiple projects/requests with a controlled sense of urgency. Remains calm under pressure
  • Keen attention to detail – awareness of how your work product impacts others
