Infrastructure Platform Engineer

Job Location Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Purpose: 

This role is responsible for building the software layer over the Window’s environment by automating the Windows Engineering tasks leveraging tools like PowerShell and Ansible to build playbooks.  Effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of critical systems hardware and software, and related infrastructure. Assists project teams, business teams with technical issues and participates in planning, design, implementation, and support within the project life cycle. Researches and stays up to date with current trends in systems methodologies and infrastructure developments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and build PowerShell or Ansible playbooks to automate Windows Tasks
  • Responsible for the improvement of operating systems, hardware, and software.
  • The direct system administration of windows computer systems including support, maintenance and automation of the configures and installs.
  • Supports and maintains system architectures and operating systems.
  • Determines cause and resolution for software, hardware and configuration problems, and works to prevent similar or repeat issues.
  • Codes using PowerShell, Ansible and Python leveraging the CI/CD processes for automation and system support purposes.
  • Installs and maintains some applications.
  • Provides leadership, knowledge, and training to team members.
  • Properly organizes and communicates system modifications through effective documentation.
  • Devotes continuing effort to developing technical systems and network-related skills.

Position Requirements: 

  • 7+ Years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required

  • Systems administration and scripting experience in a medium-scale complex Microsoft server environment
  • A thorough knowledge of all currently supported Microsoft operating systems (Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 & 2012 R2, 2016, 2019)
  • CI/CD Toolset, knowledge of agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage integrated Microsoft services, that include the full Microsoft server roles and features.
  • Experience implementing, administering, and supporting global Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Directory Services including LDAP and secure LDAPS, DNS, DFS, Group Policies, File Security, RADIUS, and Certificate Authority's
  • Perform all tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements regarding Exchange-based messaging and collaboration availability and security; including those involving user accounts, shared folders/calendars, mailing lists, Office 365, Outlook 2016, and Outlook Web Access, OneDrive, Skype for Business, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • VMware vSphere management expertise
  • Experience with file and print services (permissioning, creation of Windows printers & file shares, etc.)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated practical application of systems security and other IT best practices, including PCI, DMZ, etc.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills (logical and systematic approach to solving problems)
  • Ability to maintain focus and professionalism under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (particularly written) and collaborative teamwork
  • Ability to work collaboratively with distributed IT staff, and other systems administrators
  • Basic TCP networking knowledge and troubleshooting
  • Experience with system debugging.
  • Experience with Windows Server Operating System Patching.

Desired

  • 5+ years professional IT Experience with Office 365 Administration, management
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows server technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with PowerShell automation scripting, management, and automation
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud Administration
  • 1+ year experience with Microsoft Azure Infrastructure, platform and software services
  • Experience with Exchange 2016, Hybrid configuration
  • Experience with Backup Systems (Cohesity, Networker)
  • Experience deploying solutions in a heterogeneous Windows computing environment
  • SSL Certificate Management both internal and external
  • Experience with SQL Server administration and management
  • Experience with Microsoft Failover Clustering
  • Experience with Web Servers
  • SAN and NAS Administration experience (Hitachi, etc.)
  • Experience with Cisco UCS Blade Environments
  • Experience supporting a VDI infrastructure, preferably based on VMware View
  • Experience Ansible Tower to support windows automation
  • Experience with Azure AD and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
  • Strong VMWare configuration and management experience
  • Strong Windows Server OS and server hardware, including Cisco, Dell and other vendors.

Working Conditions (if applicable):

  • Rotational On-call
  • Off hours Production maintenance windows.
