DevOps Engineer - ServiceNow


Position Purpose

The Service Management DevOps Engineer serves as a key technical resource in the configuration, development, support, and maintenance of the service management platform. The position supports all implemented solutions including Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Service Portals, Knowledge, CMDB, IT Operations Management and IT Business Management.  The engineer works with the Service Delivery functional and admin teams in the design, development and implementation of Service Management applications, and provides architectural input to maintain stability of the overall platform by ensuring the appropriate design and development standards are used at all times.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to drive towards implementation of platform roadmap
  • Participate in creating solutions for functional and non-functional requirements
  • Deliver on user story commitments each sprint
  • Collaborate with the product and platform teams in an agile development environment
  • Proactively stay on top of new capabilities in the platform and educate team members and customers
  • Demonstrate platform capabilities to show what is possible/recommended and rapidly prototype new solutions
  • Provide operational support on a rotational basis

Key Performance Indicators

Ability to manage workload and set expectations on quality delivery of new features and enhancements

Adoption of newly developed processes and integrations

Position Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile with an objected oriented programming language (i.e. Java or .NET)
  • 2+ years of experience with at least 1 scripting language such as JavaScript or AngularJS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with ability to express complex technical concepts effectively
  • ServiceNow development experience
  • Experience with ServiceNow's primary toolset: Business rules, client scripts, script includes, script actions/events, import sets, export sets, asynchronous transformation, scripted REST, development automation, automated test framework, service portal
  • Retail industry experience
  • Experience working on large scale, multiple team project
  • ServiceNow Administrator and/or Developer certification
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM and ITOM modules
  • Expertise with Java Script, HTML, XML, Python, and API’s
  • ITIL Foundation or certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, able to work in an office setting and/or remotely
