Position Purpose: 

The Warehouse Lead role is a critical role within the company-owned hub operation, as they lead the team that is responsible for all aspects of the operation: receiving, picking, packing, and shipping customer Home Delivery and LTL orders as well as processing all returns. This role will monitor job performance, ensure consistency in execution, drive efficiencies and assist in training.  In addition, they would provide frequent real time updates to various departments at various levels as well as manage and schedule direct reports to meet or exceed all customers’ expectations both internal and external.

In this role, you will create a culture of teamwork, engagement and accountability by planning, releasing and coordinating WMS workflow batches (“waves”) against outstanding volume for the hub operations department. This position will also be responsible for providing on-the-floor leadership and work direction to a team of operators (2-3 people) working to pick, pack and ship outbound orders for customers. You will assist management in developing daily work plans and scheduling work for associates, as well as communicating with other departments as needed. You will also help implement changes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Hub Operations team to meet or exceed all hub business objectives and requirements.
  • Actively manage, administer and enforce hub policies and procedures
  • Comply with Codes of Safe Practices and work in accordance with company safety policies and train team to do the same
  • Serves as a consistently present leader on-the-floor who keeps the team focused on order fulfillment productivity, quality and safety.
  • Communicates daily with BCFC Manager to share feedback from the floor (productivity or employee related) and adjust work plans accordingly
  • Communicate with transportation, materials planning, manufacturing, and order fulfillment operations daily as needed to plan, coordinate, and resolve issues with daily workflow
  • Engage in and create continuous improvement efforts and monitor results.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements for designated functional area
  • Serves as a consistently present leader on-the-floor who keeps the team focused on order fulfillment productivity, quality and safety.
  • Trains operators and other personnel to insure consistency of work across functional areas
  • Execute Labor Planning and manage workflow and monitor hourly employees, including overtime reduction efforts.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to develop detailed standard work, work instructions and processes to ensure they are followed.

Specific distribution responsibilities include:

  • Lead and participate in accurate inbound receiving and put-away
  • Lead and participate in accurate pick/pack and kitting of outbound orders
  • Lead and participate in outbound shipping, including loading of trailers
  • Maintain highest level of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits and systems updates
  • Ensure that all customer and transfer shipments are made on time, are free of damage and are fulfilled with 100% accuracy
  • Build and release waves within Oracle WMS according to daily schedules and instructions from management
  • Research and resolve any issues that arise during waving, including inventory discrepancies, wrong ship method, invalid order type, etc.
  • Coordinate and direct work of replenishment and inventory control associates as needed to maximize available inventory to reduce missed shipments
  • Communicate with order entry/customer service to resolve any issues with outstanding orders
  • Handle special requests such as expedite requests, special handling instructions, and off-system shipping requests
  • Communicates daily with BCFC Manager to share feedback from the floor (productivity or employee related) and adjust work plans accordingly
  • Communicate with transportation, materials planning, manufacturing, and order fulfillment operations daily as needed to plan, coordinate, and resolve issues with daily workflow
  • Work with team members in support of process improvements and cost reductions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Safety:  Total Injuries, Recordable Incident Rate (RIR) and Lost Work Day (LWDR)
  • Quality: First Pass Yield, Pick Accuracy, Inventory Accuracy and 0-30 Day Warranty Metrics
  • Cost:  Meet or exceed hub productivity metrics (rates, cost per hour, AOP and forecasts).
  • Customer Experience:  First Pass Yield, Delivery Performance and Average Shipping Lead Time.
  • Employee Engagement Index

Position Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of direct supervision of others
  • 3 or more years’ experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Distribution and Fulfillment Operations and Supply Chain principles and practices
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required
  • 2-3 years leadership experience in a distribution environment 
  • Possess Forklift Certification

Working Conditions (if applicable):

  • Must be able to work weekends and long hours as needed
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to material handling equipment, moderate noise and the use of protective eye equipment
  • Ability to work in a warehouse or distribution environment with exposure to material handling equipment, moderate noise and the use of protective eye equipment
  • Some lifting up to 75 pounds may be required
  • Must be able to stand 8.0 hours or more per shift
  • Must be able to work overtime as required, including weekends
  • The work environment includes moving equipment, a moderate noise level and some fluctuations in temperature
